THE CLASSICAL BUN

The classical bun is the standard hair style for the ballet dancer. Although a bun may be low, centered, or high....a true classical bun should be centered on the back of the head. If you draw a diagonal line along your cheekbones and just above your ears, you should find the right place. Try to keep your bun flat to your head and be sure to secure with hair pins.

    STEP 1 - What you'll need:

    Comb and/or hairbrush
Clear hair elastics or match hair colour
    Sticky hair spray and/or gel
Hairpins to match colour of hair (need 8)
Fine hair net to match colour of hair

    STEP 2:
Part hair on child's left hand side. Comb shows part should be middle of eyebrow.
Comb any bangs back and hair spray or gel well to hold the part.
Pull hair into a ponytail at center back of head. Use clear elastic or match hair colour.

    STEP 3:
Twist the ponytail all the way down.
Wrap the twisted ponytail around and around, making it flat to the head.
Put hair net on over top. Can stretch out net and keep folding over a couple of times.

Using 8 hair pins, secure top, bottom, both sides - then go in between each of these. Put hair pin straight into head, then pull hairpin down flat to the head, push pin in.
